Dear (Honest) John

The advent of powerful battlefield rocket artillery and the miniaturization of nuclear warheads resulted in the birth of the tactical nuclear missile in the 1950s. Taking artillery to the “nth” power, this class of weapon was quickly and widely fielded by both sides in the Cold War. One of the most famous of these was the “Honest John”, a tactical nuke launched from the back of a 6×6 army truck!

Given the widespread service of this weapon, it’s not a surprise that there was a Dinky Toy of it! With a missile that really fires, the Honest John was second only to the Corporal in the Dinky arsenal! Check out the Dinky No. 665 Honest John Missile Launcher on the Dinky Toys page! They sure don’t make ’em like this today!
